The friendly spirit which I had encountered all round
Glasgow was again in evidence as I called in to this brilliant ground. The Club official
working on the pitch welcomed me like an old friend, and his younger colleague was
encouraged to go and find a pennant and programmes for me to take away. In our brief
conversation I heard more sense than I have ever encountered in speaking to Kent League
officials - if this club had its way a Scottish Hop would be something to look forward to.
Imagining a large crowd of hoppers in this curved-ended arena is a tempting prospect!
The terracing extends around both ends and along the side which also features an area of
cover and a solidly-built pavilion, in traditional Scottish style. On the far side the
rare seated stand perches atop and rising earth bank, strangely difficult to photograph.
The view of the near-by hills makes this a ground well worth finding on a match day. Oh
yes - and the programmes include the brilliant concept of the Away Ground Pie Spy which I
have to admit having pinched for Crocks progs this season.
