Latham Park
One of the challenges involved with collecting photos such as these is the actual locating of the ground. Some
kind of sixth sense usually guides a real stadium buff, but Newtown had me beaten! I followed written
instructions without success, and resorted to buying a map. When I arrived at the ground - down a very small
back road - I was most surprised to find a huge new cantilever stand where I had expected to see a gentle earth
bank with a few barriers.
The reasoning behind the positioning of this superb stand is not clear, with a corner view not being the best.
The old stand is dwarfed and yet takes centre-stage, perhaps being under threat of demolition if the new stand
is extended. However, on the small crowds which attend this attractively-situated ground at present such
development is unlikely.
