Newlandsfield Park
Now there's a name for a ground! Pollock's stadium is a surprise in many ways - it is
approached down a posh shopping street, and the club obviously have a bob or two. The
ground is certainly the best Junior ground I have been to, and the high attendance figures
justify the investment in providing good paved terracing all round. The covered terrace is
not the biggest but must generate a good atmosphere when full. The two ends are both
somewhat different to other end terraces, with the rises in height being at the will of
the person organising the work it would seem. When I visited two fox cubs played with no
regard for my presence next to the house-like structure; I wonder what they made of the
crowds at games later in the summer? The only disappointment in the ground. is the far
side, which is well built terracing but lacking in any character.
