The first photos which I took of De Klokke
left me somewhat disappointed after my visit with Colin Peel and Jon Weaver in August
1998. The grandstand was so big that even with my wide angle lens I could not get a good
photo in just one shot. I eventually compromised and produced the montage shot seen on the
first page of this website. To do the ground justice I needed a new camera! I struck a
good deal with Gavin Ellis-Neville, and on our Christmas shopping trip on the 21st
December I took my chance and left the family in the car saying 'I'll just be a
minute...'.
I was as quick as I could be - but this is such a superb ground that I took thirty minutes
to get the shots I wanted. I was not very popular when I got back to the car, and had to
do some spending to make amends.
